Hypnosis and Word Power

Your subconscious mind interprets words very literally, so it’s important to be precise when talking to it. And by the way, that includes your very own self-talk, which is more powerful than anything I could ever say to you.

Here are some words to let go from your vocabulary. Let’s say you’ve got a habit you’d like to change. Rather than use the word ‘quit’ (which is associated with losers), substitute the word ‘stop’.

Also forget the phrase ‘give up’ (that’s too much like surrendering). A better option would be ‘refuse’ or ‘reject’ (they give you control).

A personal favorite to get rid of is the word ‘perfect’ (which is impossible and is the cause of all that ails most people). I prefer the word ‘precious’ – just because you are.

And last, but not least, is the word ‘try’. Only use it if you want to fail at something. Remember, Nike doesn’t say ‘Try Harder’, it says ‘Just Do It!’
