Someone is Always Watching

I was on my way to a college basketball game and as I handed the woman my ticket she said, “You’re Roberta Fernandez. Your presentation changed my life!” I was stunned, trying to connect recognition to the face, mumbled something like, “I’m so happy for you,” and was pushed forward by impatient fans from behind. I later went back to find her but she was gone. I never knew this woman.

Recently I received a letter from someone I did know many years ago that said I had been the most influential business women in her life. I had no idea she felt that way.

I don’t say these things as a pat on the back for me. As a hypnotist, I help people every day. I mention this because someone is always watching. You may never know how you might affect people that you come into contact with, even for the briefest of moments. It might be a co-worker, a child or a complete stranger. It is these times of our habitual living of life that we are most unaware of the impact of our actions or words. What kind of legacy are you leaving on your trail through life?

I haven’t seen this bumper sticker in a while, but one day, on the car in front of me at a toll booth, I saw “Practice random acts of kindness and senseless beauty.” As I paid my 50 cent toll, I was inspired to give the man $5 for the next 9 people that came through. He must have not pocketed it for himself, as for about the next 3 miles, I had people honking and waving and smiling as they passed me. And it did more for me than it did for them. Just sayin…….
