In a recent hypnosis certification class I talked about why hypnosis is so powerful in working with certain issues. The reason is very simple.

We continue our wires-crossed series with pain.  Pain is your body’s way of giving you important information that there is something wrong that needs attention. When everything has been done that can be done and your body has healed, there is no reason for pain to exist.  Sometimes however, the ‘pain gate’ remains open and nerves stay sensitized. In the case of missing limbs, the brain can get messages that there is still a problem and pain can be felt where there is no longer a body part. We can also ‘take on’ the pain of someone else’s experience and make it our own. Because there is no pain center in the brain, pain is based on what we’ve experienced or on what others tell us it should feel like. Pain also comes from our unexpressed and misunderstood emotions. 25% of people who suffer from chronic pain have never had an injury or surgery. (Listen to our blog from last week.)  If you’ve had pain for a long time, it can also become a habit. Because habits are just automated thoughts or behaviors, and we can change our thoughts at will, we can change the habit of pain. Want solutions? Learn how to breathe. Learn self-hypnosis. Go to the blog section of the The FARE Hypnosis website and search the archives with the words ‘pain’, ‘breath’ and self- hypnosis. Lots of ideas will appear! I’m Roberta Fernandez, a Board Certified Hypnotist and Certified Trainer at The FARE Hypnosis Center, helping you take back control, by unlocking the power of your mind to reach your goals of any kind.

I’m very excited, having just left a luncheon in Edina where a panel of experts spoke about innovation in the health care arena. They were creating things I could hardly wrap my head around, like growing new organs from stem cells and replacing body parts with them. Innovations in health care. It was so exciting!

I want to remind you that hypnosis is a natural state of mind. You go in and out of hypnosis everyday, usually multiple times, but at least twice a day. When you go to sleep and in the morning wake up, you have to pass through the trance states.

Hypnosis was very helpful in alleviating some of the symptoms for the clients I have seen with Fibromyalgia. Once again, we find stress as an underlying condition that made their symptoms worse. It was also effective in managing the pain that these clients experienced. There are many issues that these clients shared: the expectation of pain, the effects it had on their ability to work or function in everyday life, and the stress that came from worrying about all of this. As you all know, what we focus on expands, so giving these clients the tools to be able to shift their focus, calm their thoughts, and control their pain has gone a long way in helping them take back some control in their lives. I’m Roberta Fernandez, a Board Certified Hypnotist and Certified Trainer at The FARE Hypnosis Center, located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Let us help you take back control by unlocking the power of your mind to reach your goals of any kind.
