Experiences for a New Year – Priorities

This is an exercise in learning to set realistic priorities and to also recognize how many things you think are essential, that aren’t really that important after all.

On a large piece of paper make 2 columns titled: Things I will do today (list only the things you absolutely intend, need or want to do – no matter what – and Things that should be done but that I would like the “Universe” to do (everything else goes here).

Analyze your first column carefully and move everything to the other side that you really don’t want or can’t do.

An interesting spin on this exercise is to do this for monthly goals, tasks, or projects. As you go through the months, notice how many things shift out of your column. This may happen because someone else can do/did them. Or perhaps they fell off completely because they didn’t really matter, and no one noticed!

If you find that this exercise is difficult, and doesn’t get easier after a few attempts, give me a call! Write to me about your experiences at the end of the 30 days!
