Experiences for a New Year – Awareness

This is an exercise in learning to become more aware of your surroundings and your actions, and to be more aware of what you want in the moment. (Remember that where you put your focus is what you are likely to receive.) This may seem like a very simple exercise, but I’m willing to bet that the first thing you learn is how much you are NOT aware of what you are doing as you move through your day. Be kind to yourself with this exercise. You will improve with practice, especially when you start experiencing more positive outcomes!

Set an intention as you move from one activity to another. For example, You get in the car – I want a safe pleasant journey. Arrive at your office – I want a calm relaxing day. The phone rings – I want a brief efficient call (or it can go to voicemail) so I can quickly return to my work. Lunch – This food provides all the nutrition and energy my body needs.

As you get better at the more pronounced segments of your day, start focusing on the smaller details.

If you find that this exercise is difficult, and doesn’t get easier after a few attempts, give me a call! Write to me about your experiences at the end of the 30 days!
