Emotional and Mental Wellbeing

You understand the importance of exercise and nutrition for your body. You make a concerted effort to regularly walk or go to the gym. You do your best to eliminate processed foods and sugar from your diet. After all, your body has to support you for your entire lifetime. Your are incorporating physical wellbeing into your life.
Many of you understand the importance of putting away money for a rainy day, have a college fund for your kids, and savings for retirement. Perhaps you adhere to a budget and have a financial advisor to help you plan for those important goals in your future. Your are incorporating financial wellbeing into your life.
But there is a third area of wellbeing that is perhaps most important of all, and often the most neglected. What are you doing to improve your emotional and mental wellbeing? Mental wellbeing refers to your cognitive processes: what you are thinking, behaviors and habits. Emotional wellbeing refers to what you are feeling and how you express those feelings.
Thinking and feeling are sometimes impossible to separate, and sometimes in direct opposition to each other (and this is what causes problems). What you think reflects your beliefs about yourself and the world around you. And as emotion drives behavior, you can see how it can heavily impact your financial and physical wellbeing.
Science has shown that continual negative thoughts and emotions actually affect your molecular structure to the point where you become ‘addicted’ to those thoughts and emotions.
