How Do You Take Action toward Your Goals?

I recently listened to a speaker explaining his method for increasing sales to business owners.

It was full of goal setting, analyzing the number of calls to close ratios, and setting daily targets to get the required percentage by the end of the week.

I was exhausted when all his calculations were worked backward and forwards and the numbers were just spinning in my head. What I will say next may cause you to push back against this traditional wisdom. I’m not advocating sitting around and twiddling your thumbs, waiting for things to happen magically. But I would like you to consider the difference between action – what he was promoting – and what I call inspired action.

Here’s how it goes: First, take some time to think about something not related to what you want to accomplish that makes you feel good and happy. (Worrying about not making sales or about money is NOT that!) Next, once you are feeling really good, take ten minutes or so and imagine having reached that goal. Notice how you feel. How is your life changed by accomplishing this? What are all of the wonderful things you now have or are doing? Perhaps you could even write all of this down. Then, get up and do something else.

I promise, after practicing this consistently, you will be surprised at the ideas that come to you and amazed at the inspiration that comes, allowing you to work efficiently and happily toward what you want.

Inspired action outperforms plain old action every time – in productivity and results.

Sometimes you need to get out of your own way for things to manifest.
