I had a client ask me the other day how I could stay so positive all the time (hint: satisfaction). Well, aside from walking the talk of what I teach, I took some time to think about that.

I am not always in a positive upbeat mode. If so, I wouldn’t be human! However, I do have a goal of being in a general state of satisfaction. Feeling at ease, comfortable and in control.

Here’s the exercise I do that you may wish to do for your self. Draw a line, on the left end write the word fear, on the right end, the word love. Place a hash mark in the middle and about 40% of the way toward love, write the word satisfaction. This is what I think it is realistic for everyday functioning. 

Once you learn to maintain this state it is easy to recognize when you are to the right or left of satisfaction. If you find yourself closer to fear, you can then start thinking of slightly more positive feelings to work your way back to satisfaction.
