People think they can’t break habits, but they are simply automated thoughts or actions or even feelings. The fact of the matter is that you change your mind all the time. You might have put out the blue sweater to wear the next day, and when you got up you thought, “No, I feel like the red one.”
Habits are formed by thinking or doing something many times. Like tying your shoes or brushing your teeth. Once your brain makes the connection to what you want, it gets very efficient and automates those actions, thoughts, or feelings.
