How to Manage Feelings

Last week talked about using distractors to deal with our feelings and how that can get us into trouble. So what is the right way to deal with those feelings?
Cal had a three-step process that is very efficient in working with those feelings. The first step is to name the feeling. If we dress anger and what we are really feeling is inadequacy, those are two different things and there are different causes and different responses that will satisfy them.
It’s important to name the feeling properly. The second step is to determine why am you are feeling that way. What is causing it? Then you can determine a satisfying response for it.
So you name the feeling, determine what’s causing it and come up with a satisfying response to take care of that need want or desire that’s not being met.
The satisfying response can be very specific to the situation or to your self as an individual. Cal outlines lots of them in the book.
