Change the only thing certain in life, but it creates feelings of uncertainty and vulnerability. Feelings that aren’t always comfortable.
Niehbur plays on a well known quote – “God grant me the serenity to accept the change I cannot control, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Stephen Covey divides our role in change into 3 circles. When you reflect on things that are changing in your life, consider this:
1)Circle of concern – Areas which are out of your control
What can you let go of?
2)Circle of influence – Areas which you can only
What can you influence?
3)Circle of autonomy – Areas which you can control
What can you do & what do you feel about it?
Remember your the 5,4,3,2,1 relax technique to help you stay calm and clear.
And notice how more in control you feel while things are evolving.
