Noticing the Extraordinary

Did you know that the extraordinary is the ordinary? What makes the ordinary extraordinary is your perspective.

Take your lungs, for example. They aren’t particularly beautiful to look at, everyone has them and for the most part you don’t even think of them. But behind the scenes, they breathe – they give you life.

And the story you tell about anything in your life, from the perspective you tell it, can take the mundane and ordinary to the extraordinary.

When was the last time you simply noticed the moon in the sky, the birds flying over your car on the way to work, watched a child engrossed in the joy of a simple game, or smelled the lilacs or evergreen on your morning walk?

Take time to be present in the moment. Look at something you take for granted and shift it into a new perspective – one of gratitude. Notice how it feels now. Or take an unhappy or unwanted story you’ve been telling for a long time (it’s all about what you don’t want or like) and reshape it to discover what that story tells you about what you DO want. Then vow to always substitute the new version for the old. Watch what happens.

Sometime this week, sit down and make a list of everything in your life you think of as ordinary. Then, for each item, shift your perspective to find the extraordinary. Guess what – it’s been there all the time!

This is what good hypnotists do with clients everyday. We help you change your perspective to help you see that your ordinary life can be as extraordinary as you want it to be!
