Empathy vs Compassion

Many people tell me they are empathic. That they can feel what others feel or relate to them in a way that is special.

That’s really not a good thing to do, because if those are negative feelings, it is easy to take on those bad feelings for yourself. That helps no one, even if you are being empathetic for all the right reasons.

This is because empathy and sympathy are frames of mind that are looking at the problem. Having compassion for someone or their situation is looking at the solution. You are seeing in that person or situation what CAN be, sending a more positive energy that will enable the person to move forward.
