I can’t believe it’s taken so long to talk about pain -  the subject that sold ME on hypnosis. I had a bilateral full knee (both at the same time) replacement and took no pain meds - just used hypnosis to help with my recovery and had no pain. You may have language centers, auditory and visual centers i your brain, but there are no pain centers there. We ‘feel’ pain based on what our brain thinks it should feel like - from our experiences and what we’ve been told. You can reduce, eliminate, or change how you feel ‘pain’ before the nerve impulse reaches your brain. If you want to feel it like a tickle, or react to it through laughter, it’s up to you. With good instruction, hypnosis, and practice you CAN manage pain by turning down the volume or changing the perception of it.
