Myth buster # 4 – Hypnosis only works for smoking and weight loss. No! It works for many things. But first, I need to say that the only way hypnosis can be effective is if you truly want the change.
A man from Wayzata came in last week who was tired of his wife nagging him about smoking. I asked him if he wanted to stop and when he said no, I suggested he save his money and come back when he was ready. Remember I can’t MAKE anyone do anything, so if you don’t want to create the change it ISN’T ever going to happen.
While hypnosis is very effective for smoking and weight loss, it has many other benefits, too. It can help you manage stress, worry less, get rid of fears, build confidence, improve performance at work, school and in sports, even help you stop grinding your teeth or ease hot flashes.
It is also a very effective pain management tool for chronic pain or post surgical pain. I had both of my knees replaced at the same time and needed no pain medication – I just used hypnosis – and I had no pain.
I don’t diagnose or treat anything. I don’t cure diseases. But I do work with the underlying issues that contribute to a variety of problems. Our mind and body are a great, complex system. One small, positive change can effect many things in beneficial ways.
